In short

A 1:43 scale model of the #9 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP that sealed an outright Le Mans victory in 2009 for Brabham, Gené and Wurz — the peak of the Peugeot diesel programme.

The 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans produced one of the most complete team performances in modern endurance racing. Peugeot Sport fielded three 908 HDi FAP prototypes — numbers 7, 8 and 9 — and the marque finished first and second overall. Car #9 crossed the line at the head of that formation, its three drivers completing 382 laps of the Circuit de la Sarthe.

Peugeot's Twin-Turbocharged Diesel Weapon

Developed by Peugeot Sport and introduced in 2007, the 908 HDi FAP was an LMP1 prototype built around a twin-turbocharged V12 diesel engine. The HDi FAP designation reflected Peugeot's proprietary high-pressure direct injection and diesel particulate filter technology — transferred directly from road-car development to the top tier of endurance racing. The car competed in the Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 2007 through 2011, making it one of the defining machines of the diesel prototype era.

The Race That Defined the Diesel Era at Le Mans

The 2009 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans marked the high point of the diesel rivalry between Peugeot and Audi. Car #9, in the white, silver and blue Team Peugeot Total livery, was shared by David Brabham — son of three-time Formula 1 World Champion Sir Jack Brabham, and recording his sole Le Mans overall victory — alongside Marc Gené and Alexander Wurz, both former Formula 1 drivers who had moved into Peugeot Sport's LMP1 programme. The trio's 382-lap total placed them ahead of the field, with the #8 sister car completing a Peugeot 1-2 finish.
