In short

A run of just 500 units of the Porsche 911 GT3 (992.2) in its factory Salzburg red-and-white Heritage Design livery, rendered in resin at 1:18 by Spark Model with a display showcase included.

Porsche unveiled the 992.2 generation GT3 on 18 October 2024, marking the nameplate's 25th anniversary with revised RS-derived camshafts, new throttle bodies and four catalytic converters grafted onto the same 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six producing 510 PS at 8,500 rpm. One of the launch's most significant details was not mechanical but chromatic: the factory Heritage Design Salzburg livery, the third 911 model to carry an 'Icons of Cool' scheme, dressing the new GT3 in the same red and white that made history at Le Mans over half a century ago.

A 510 PS Flat-Six Wrapped in History

The 992.2 GT3 is dimensionally precise: 4,570 mm long, 1,852 mm wide and 1,279 mm tall on a 2,457 mm wheelbase, with a kerb weight of 1,479 kg in PDK specification. The 9,000 rpm redline remains, and the PDK variant reaches 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds on its way to a 311 km/h top speed. The platform uses the MMB modular architecture with a body composed largely of aluminium panels — a road car engineered to the tolerances of a racing homologation.

Number 23 and the Race That Started Everything

The red and white Salzburg colours originate with Porsche Salzburg, the Austrian importer that fielded the quasi-works effort at the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans. The scheme derives from the Austrian national flag. Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood steered the #23 Porsche 917K through torrential rain to give Porsche its first-ever outright Le Mans victory, with only seven cars classified as finishers. The number 23 and those two colours have since reappeared on a succession of official Porsche Heritage Design and Sonderwunsch projects, including the 2025 factory Carrera GT re-commission for customer Victor Gómez. On the 992.2 GT3 they arrive as a factory-option livery with full period fidelity.

The Spark Model Resin at 1:18

Commissioned through Porsche Driver's Selection and listed on the official Porsche Shop at USD $485.00, this 1:18 scale model car is produced by Spark Model in resin — a composite of 90 % plastic and 10 % metal. The body is sealed, with no opening parts; surface fidelity is concentrated on the Salzburg red and white livery, the aerodynamic bodywork of the 992.2 GT3 and the black interior visible through the glazing. Production is capped at 500 units worldwide, a substantially tighter run than many Spark dealer editions, and each unit ships with a display showcase included in the packaging (box dimensions 336 × 168 × 105 mm, total weight 1,900 g).

In the Display Cabinet

At 1:18, the 992.2 GT3 measures approximately 25.5 cm in length — plan for roughly 30 cm of shelf depth to accommodate the showcase comfortably. The model sits naturally alongside the 992.1 GT3 RS Salzburg 1:18 Spark release (2023), forming a two-piece Heritage Design Salzburg sub-series in the same scale. Collectors building a Porsche Heritage Design sequence — which already spans the Targa 4S, 911 Sport Classic and the GT3 RS — will find the 992.2 GT3 Salzburg closes a logical gap in that lineage. The 500-unit ceiling makes it the tightest edition in the current series.

Frequently asked questions

How big is the 1:18 scale model?

The Porsche 911 GT3 (992.2) measures 4,570 mm in real life. Divided by 18, the 1:18 scale model comes out at approximately 25.5 cm in length. Allow around 30 cm of shelf or showcase depth to display it properly, particularly with the included vitrine in place.

Does the model have opening parts?

No. This is a sealed resin model with a one-piece fixed body — no opening doors, bonnet or engine lid. The Porsche Shop listing describes it as a stand model only. Detail is concentrated on the exterior surfaces: the Salzburg red and white livery, the 992.2 GT3 aerodynamic bodywork and the black interior visible through the glazed windows.

What material is the model made from?

The model is cast in resin, officially listed as 90 % plastic and 10 % metal. Resin allows Spark Model to capture fine surface detail — the wing profiles, bodywork character lines and livery graphics — at this scale without the weight and tooling constraints of diecast.

What is the historical significance of the Salzburg livery?

The red and white Salzburg scheme was carried by the #23 Porsche 917K driven by Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood to Porsche's first-ever outright victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970 — a rain-affected race with only seven classified finishers. The colours derive from the Austrian national flag and are associated with Porsche Salzburg, the Austrian importer that ran the car. Porsche has since revived them across multiple Heritage Design and Sonderwunsch projects.
