TOURING Modelcars is the own brand of Ravensberger Handelskontor, the German wholesaler that has supplied scale model cars to resellers around the world since 1994 under the management of Thomas Langejürgen. Founded in 2021 and based in Herford, the brand presented its first own releases in 2022 and focuses on 1:18 road cars: the convertibles, coupés and family estates that shaped European motoring. The stylised steering wheel in its logo is the brand's signature.

Touring models are appreciated for their opening doors and bonnets, carefully reproduced engine bays and interiors, and limited editions of no more than 700 to 900 pieces per version. At Vroomi you will find the Fiat 124 Pininfarina Spider Europa with soft top, the Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider 1600 Coda Tonda, the Opel Kadett B Caravan and the Ford Granada Coupé, each in an authentic period colour. A rich level of detail at a fair price, for collectors who love classic road cars.

In short

Touring Modelcars renders the 1982 Fiat 124 Spider Europa as a 1:18 scale model in die-cast metal, finished in period-correct Light Brown Metallic with the soft-top roof that defines the car's identity.

The Fiat 124 Spider Europa represents the final chapter of a production run that began in 1966 and continued until 1985 — one of the longest-lived Italian sports convertibles of its era. By 1982 the car had evolved through three series, and the Europa designation marked the late-production variant sold across North America and Europe from 1979 onwards. Pininfarina designed the original body and carried out coachwork production throughout the model's entire life, a distinction shared at the time with Ferrari road cars from the same design house.

A Pininfarina Open Roadster Built Over Nearly Two Decades

The Series III Fiat 124 Spider, known internally as Type BS, was powered by a twin-cam four-cylinder engine fed by twin Weber carburettors. The soft-top fabric roof was standard equipment on every Spider. The Europa trim introduced revised bumpers and updated cabin details to satisfy US safety and emissions requirements, yet the fundamental Pininfarina silhouette — low, narrow, and open — remained unchanged from the original 1966 show car.

Light Brown Metallic: An Earth Tone of the Early 1980s

The 1982 car depicted here wears a Light Brown Metallic finish, an earth tone that was fashionable on Italian sports cars in the late 1970s and early 1980s. These metallic brown and ochre shades replaced the brighter hues that characterised earlier production years, giving late Spiders a quieter, more sophisticated palette. For a car that remained in production until 1985, the 1982 example sits close to the end of the line, making it historically representative of the Europa's final years on the market.

Touring Modelcars: Die-Cast in 1:18

This 1:18 scale model reproduces the soft-top configuration of the Spider Europa — the open-roof silhouette that defines the car's character and is less faithfully captured at smaller scales. The die-cast metal construction delivers the weight and surface definition appropriate to a car whose bodywork was hand-finished by Pininfarina coachbuilders in Turin.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Fiat 124 Spider Europa?

The Europa was the late-production variant of the Fiat 124 Spider, sold from 1979 to 1985. It featured a twin-cam engine with twin Weber carburettors and revised bumpers to meet US regulations, while retaining the original Pininfarina body.

Who designed and built the bodywork?

Pininfarina designed the Fiat 124 Spider in 1966 and carried out body production throughout the model's entire production life, which ended in 1985.

Who makes this 1:18 scale model and what material is it made from?

The model is produced by Touring Modelcars and is made from die-cast metal.

Why is the Light Brown Metallic colour significant?

Earth-tone metallics such as Light Brown were fashionable on Italian sports cars in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and this shade is seldom reproduced in 1:18 scale, giving the model clear shelf differentiation within Fiat and Italian open-car collections.
