TOURING Modelcars is the own brand of Ravensberger Handelskontor, the German wholesaler that has supplied scale model cars to resellers around the world since 1994 under the management of Thomas Langejürgen. Founded in 2021 and based in Herford, the brand presented its first own releases in 2022 and focuses on 1:18 road cars: the convertibles, coupés and family estates that shaped European motoring. The stylised steering wheel in its logo is the brand's signature.

Touring models are appreciated for their opening doors and bonnets, carefully reproduced engine bays and interiors, and limited editions of no more than 700 to 900 pieces per version. At Vroomi you will find the Fiat 124 Pininfarina Spider Europa with soft top, the Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider 1600 Coda Tonda, the Opel Kadett B Caravan and the Ford Granada Coupé, each in an authentic period colour. A rich level of detail at a fair price, for collectors who love classic road cars.

In short

Touring Modelcars renders the 1982 Fiat 124 Spider Europa — last of the North American Pininfarina roadsters — in a 1:18 die-cast scale model finished in the model's most iconic colour: red.

The Fiat 124 Spider entered production in 1966 and ran, remarkably, until 1985 — a near-two-decade lifespan that speaks to the strength of its original Pininfarina design. By 1982, the Europa variant was among the very last classic Italian roadsters still on sale in the United States, a distinction that gives this particular model year a quiet historical weight for collectors on both sides of the Atlantic.

Pininfarina from Drawing Board to Factory Floor

Pininfarina's role in the 124 Spider went well beyond styling: the Turin coachbuilder designed the cabriolet body and manufactured every unit at its Grugliasco plant throughout the model's entire production run. The CS1 bodyshell, restyled for the second series, carries the soft-top fabric roof that became the car's signature silhouette. That single-source responsibility for both design and assembly is unusual in the industry and gives the 124 Spider a stronger Pininfarina identity than many of its contemporaries.

The Europa: Italy's Roadster Built for American Roads

The 'Europa' designation arrived in 1979 as Fiat's answer to US federal safety regulations, bringing revised bumpers and a twin-cam inline-four engine. By 1982, the car was entering its final years on the American market, and red — among the most sought-after colours for 124 Spider collectors today — was a fitting choice for a model so closely associated with the Italian sporting tradition. The combination of a DOHC engine and open-top Pininfarina bodywork made the Europa a credible alternative in the same period.

The 1:18 Scale Model by Touring Modelcars

Touring Modelcars produces this replica as a die-cast 1:18 scale model, a format that suits the 124 Spider's open roadster proportions particularly well — the exposed cockpit, the manually operated fabric roof and the classic long-bonnet stance all read clearly at this size. The red livery chosen for this release reflects the colour most closely associated with the model in collector culture, and die-cast construction ensures the weight and rigidity appropriate to a shelf piece of this scale.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Fiat 124 Spider Europa?

The 124 Spider Europa was the North American market version of the Fiat 124 Spider, introduced in 1979 with revised bumpers to meet US federal safety standards and powered by a twin-cam engine. By 1982 it was one of the last Italian roadsters still on sale in the United States.

Who designed and built the 124 Spider body?

Pininfarina was responsible for both the design and the full assembly of every 124 Spider body, carrying out production at their Grugliasco plant from 1966 through to the end of the model's run in 1985.

What scale is this model and who makes it?

This is a 1:18 die-cast scale model made by Touring Modelcars, representing the 1982 Fiat 124 Spider Europa Cabriolet in red.

Why is the 1982 model year significant?

1982 falls in the final production phase of the 124 Spider Europa; the car's long presence in the US market — running from 1979 to the end of production in 1985 — ended an era for classic Italian roadsters in North America.
