TOURING Modelcars is the own brand of Ravensberger Handelskontor, the German wholesaler that has supplied scale model cars to resellers around the world since 1994 under the management of Thomas Langejürgen. Founded in 2021 and based in Herford, the brand presented its first own releases in 2022 and focuses on 1:18 road cars: the convertibles, coupés and family estates that shaped European motoring. The stylised steering wheel in its logo is the brand's signature.

Touring models are appreciated for their opening doors and bonnets, carefully reproduced engine bays and interiors, and limited editions of no more than 700 to 900 pieces per version. At Vroomi you will find the Fiat 124 Pininfarina Spider Europa with soft top, the Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider 1600 Coda Tonda, the Opel Kadett B Caravan and the Ford Granada Coupé, each in an authentic period colour. A rich level of detail at a fair price, for collectors who love classic road cars.

In short

The 1982 Fiat 124 Spider Europa was the final North American model year for one of the longest-running Italian roadsters, reproduced in 1:18 scale die-cast with period-correct brown metallic livery.

The Fiat 124 Sport Spider debuted in 1966 from a Pininfarina design and ran in continuous production through 1982 in North America — a sixteen-year run that few open-top Italian sports cars have matched. From 1975 Pininfarina took over full assembly, and by the early 1980s the car wore both Fiat and Pininfarina badging depending on the market. This 1:18 die-cast captures the 1982 cabriolet in a brown metallic finish that is directly of its era.

A Sixteen-Year Italian Roadster, Built by Pininfarina

The 124 Sport Spider's body was designed by Pininfarina for the 1966 Turin Motor Show and remained structurally and visually coherent right through to end of production — a rare case of a design outlasting its original manufacturer's involvement. The cabriolet was offered exclusively with a manually-operated fabric soft-top throughout its life.

1982: The North American Swan Song and a Dual Identity

The 'Spider Europa' designation was introduced from the 1979 model year specifically for the North American market, distinguishing the fuel-injected, emissions-compliant version from European variants. By the 1982 model year — the last for the US — the car was simultaneously sold as the Pininfarina Spider in several other markets, carrying the coachbuilder's own badge while retaining full Fiat 124 mechanicals. Pininfarina continued selling the model in Europe under its own name through 1985. The 1982 car therefore sits at a precise transition point between two brand identities.

The 1:18 Scale Model

This 1:18 scale model is die-cast, replicating the 1982 Spider Europa cabriolet in brown metallic — a colour drawn from the earth-tone palette that was prevalent in European and North American markets during the early 1980s. Brown metallic is rarely reproduced in 1:18 die-cast compared to the more common red or white variants, which gives this release a distinct position in any collection of Italian open sports cars. The open cabriolet silhouette and the long bonnet proportions of the Pininfarina design translate well at this scale.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Spider Europa and how does it differ from the standard 124 Spider?

The Spider Europa was the North American market designation introduced from the 1979 model year. It featured Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection (from 1980) and revised emissions equipment, distinguishing it from the carburettor-fed European variants.

Was 1982 genuinely the last year for the Fiat 124 Spider?

1982 was the final model year in the United States. Pininfarina continued selling the car in Europe under its own badge through 1985, though the mechanicals remained those of the Fiat 124 Spider throughout.

Who designed and built the 124 Spider bodywork?

Pininfarina designed the original cabriolet body for the 1966 Turin Motor Show. From 1975, Pininfarina took over full assembly responsibility, and by the early 1980s the car was sold under both Fiat and Pininfarina badging depending on the market.

What material and scale is this model?
