TOURING Modelcars is the own brand of Ravensberger Handelskontor, the German wholesaler that has supplied scale model cars to resellers around the world since 1994 under the management of Thomas Langejürgen. Founded in 2021 and based in Herford, the brand presented its first own releases in 2022 and focuses on 1:18 road cars: the convertibles, coupés and family estates that shaped European motoring. The stylised steering wheel in its logo is the brand's signature.

Touring models are appreciated for their opening doors and bonnets, carefully reproduced engine bays and interiors, and limited editions of no more than 700 to 900 pieces per version. At Vroomi you will find the Fiat 124 Pininfarina Spider Europa with soft top, the Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider 1600 Coda Tonda, the Opel Kadett B Caravan and the Ford Granada Coupé, each in an authentic period colour. A rich level of detail at a fair price, for collectors who love classic road cars.

In short

The last US-market 1982 Fiat 124 Spider Europa rendered in die-cast at 1:18, finished in Light Blue Metallic with folded soft-top — a Pininfarina roadster that closed its American chapter after 16 years.

The Fiat 124 Spider Europa occupies a precise and final moment in Italian roadster history: 1982 was the last model year in which Fiat sold this Pininfarina-designed convertible in the United States, closing a chapter that had opened in 1966. This die-cast metal model at 1:18 captures that endpoint, choosing Light Blue Metallic — a period-correct colour from the Fiat and Pininfarina palette of the late production run — over the more familiar reds and yellows that dominate the secondary market.

A Pininfarina Roadster Built for Two Continents

Introduced in 1966 and designed entirely by Pininfarina — who also manufactured every body in Turin — the Type BS 124 Spider was an exercise in restrained Italian elegance. The Europa designation, introduced from 1979, marked the North American specification: a twin-cam inline-four fed by Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection, tuned to satisfy US emissions legislation. The body itself is a roadster with a folding soft-top, a configuration Pininfarina maintained through nearly two decades of continuous production.

1982: The End of an American Era

When Fiat withdrew the 124 Spider Europa from North American showrooms after the 1982 model year, it ended a 16-year presence in a market that had embraced the car as an accessible Italian alternative to British roadsters. Production itself continued in Europe until 1985, with the car sold under the Pininfarina badge. Light Blue Metallic sits within the metallic colour range Fiat and Pininfarina offered during this final period, making it a historically plausible and visually distinctive choice for a car that is more often modelled in warmer tones.

The 1:18 Scale Model

This 1:18 scale model in die-cast metal replicates the 1982 Spider Europa with the soft-top in the folded position — the posture that best communicates the open-top character of the original car. The Light Blue Metallic finish is a less common choice in the 1:18 segment, where red examples have historically predominated. For collectors with an interest in Italian design, American market history or late-series Pininfarina production, this release addresses a specific and underrepresented moment in the 124 Spider story.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Fiat 124 Spider Europa, and why does the 1982 model year matter?

The 124 Spider Europa was the North American specification of the Fiat 124 Spider, in production from 1966 and carrying the Europa name from 1979. It featured a fuel-injected engine to meet US emissions rules. 1982 was its final model year in the United States, after which Fiat ceased North American sales of the line.

Who designed and built the Fiat 124 Spider?

Pininfarina designed the car and manufactured every body at their Turin facility. The relationship ran from the 1966 introduction through to the end of European production in 1985, when the car was sold under the Pininfarina name.

Is Light Blue Metallic a period-correct colour for this car?

Yes. Fiat and Pininfarina offered the 124 Spider in several metallic finishes during the late production run, and light blue metallic tones featured in the period colour range for the early 1980s.

What material and scale is this model?

The model is produced in die-cast metal at 1:18 scale.
