Unveiled on 29 June 2023 at Ferrari's Fiorano test track alongside its closed-roof sibling, the SF90 XX Stradale, the SF90 XX Spider arrived as the most powerful open-top road car Ferrari had ever produced. With a combined system output of 1,030 cv drawn from a twin-turbocharged V8 and three electric motors, it set a new benchmark for the XX programme. BBR Models' 1:43 resin interpretation in Azzurro Dino brings that landmark machine to the collector's shelf.
1,030 cv and a Roof That Disappears in 14 Seconds
The SF90 XX Spider is built around a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo producing 797 cv, augmented by three electric motors for a combined 1,030 cv. The retractable hard top opens or closes in just 14 seconds at speeds of up to 45 km/h. Performance figures are correspondingly extreme: 0–100 km/h in 2.3 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 6.7 seconds, and a top speed of 320 km/h. Production is capped at 599 examples, a number that underlines its status as a limited-series, track-biased road car rather than a volume model.
Azzurro Dino: A Colour With a Story Behind It
Azzurro Dino is not a generic blue. It references the pale metallic blue historically associated with the Dino sub-brand — Ferrari's mid-engined V6 and V8 models of the 1960s and 1970s — and is offered here through Ferrari's special series personalisation programme. Chosen for the SF90 XX Spider, the shade connects a 2023 hypercar to a chapter of Ferrari history from half a century earlier. For collectors who follow Ferrari colour heritage, that lineage matters considerably more than a coat of paint.
BBR Models in Resin at 1:43
BBR Models is among the most respected Italian manufacturers working in the 1:43 resin segment, with a catalogue that tracks Ferrari's road and XX programme cars closely. This piece reproduces the SF90 XX Spider in solid resin — a material that allows fine surface definition across the complex aerodynamic bodywork. The model is approximately 11 cm in length. Because resin construction is used, the body is a sealed unit; surface and detail fidelity is concentrated on the exterior panels, diffuser geometry and the Azzurro Dino finish itself.
In the Display Cabinet
At 1:43, the SF90 XX Spider sits comfortably alongside other Ferrari XX programme pieces — FXX K, SF90 Stradale variants — as well as the full range of BBR's 1:43 Ferrari road car releases. The compact footprint suits a standard collector shelf or a glass display case. Given that only 599 real examples were built, and that Azzurro Dino carries its own historical identity within the Ferrari colour archive, this particular colour variant occupies a specific and coherent position within any serious Ferrari marque collection.
