Ferrari's return to the top category of factory endurance racing after decades of absence made the 499P one of the most scrutinised Le Mans Hypercars of the 2023 FIA WEC season. Car No. 51, crewed by Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi, carried that story into the Belgian Ardennes on 29 April 2023. BBR Models, the Italian resin specialist with official Ferrari licensing, has documented the result in a 1:43 resin model — a format sized for serious display collections rather than shelf filler.
Ferrari's First Factory Le Mans Hypercar
The Ferrari 499P is the Scuderia's first factory-entered Le Mans Hypercar prototype, built to FIA LMH regulations for the 2023 FIA WEC season. Its name encodes the class rule: combined hybrid system output is capped at approximately 500 kW, with Ferrari's own figure sitting just under that ceiling. The powertrain pairs a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 combustion unit with a front-axle hybrid motor, producing around 500 hp from the ICE alone.
A Podium Decided on the Final Lap at Spa
Round 3 of the 2023 FIA WEC, held at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on 29 April, ended with the No. 7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid of Conway, Kobayashi and Lopez taking the win ahead of the No. 8 Toyota. The No. 51 Ferrari 499P — Pier Guidi, Calado and Giovinazzi — secured 3rd overall after James Calado executed a decisive overtake on the final lap. The result was all the more significant because the sister No. 50 Ferrari 499P of Fuoco, Molina and Nielsen had retired following an accident, leaving No. 51 as Ferrari's sole finisher. Pier Guidi and Calado had previously taken the GTE Pro class at Le Mans in 2021; Giovinazzi brings Formula 1 experience to the line-up.
BBR Models: Official Ferrari Licensing in Resin
BBR Models is an Italian manufacturer with a long-standing official Ferrari licensing agreement, consistently regarded as a benchmark producer of 1:43 Ferrari resin models. The 499P No. 51 is rendered in Corsa red with AF Corse yellow branding and the sponsor decals carried at Spa 2023. Resin construction allows BBR to reproduce the intricate aerodynamic surfaces of the LMH bodywork — underbody diffuser geometry, front splitter detail and the layered rear deck — with a fidelity that diecast tooling at this scale rarely achieves. The body is a sealed one-piece unit; detail is concentrated on exterior aerodynamic surfaces.
In the Display Cabinet
At 1:43, the model has a compact footprint suited to a standard single-row cabinet shelf without dominating the space. It pairs naturally with the No. 50 Ferrari 499P from the same 2023 WEC season, or with the Toyota GR010 Hybrid No. 7 that won at Spa that day, for a complete top-three podium group. Collectors building a Ferrari factory endurance racing sequence will also find it sits logically alongside the No. 51 Ferrari 488 GTE from the 2021 Le Mans GTE Pro campaign crewed by the same Pier Guidi and Calado pairing.
