TOURING Modelcars is the own brand of Ravensberger Handelskontor, the German wholesaler that has supplied scale model cars to resellers around the world since 1994 under the management of Thomas Langejürgen. Founded in 2021 and based in Herford, the brand presented its first own releases in 2022 and focuses on 1:18 road cars: the convertibles, coupés and family estates that shaped European motoring. The stylised steering wheel in its logo is the brand's signature.

Touring models are appreciated for their opening doors and bonnets, carefully reproduced engine bays and interiors, and limited editions of no more than 700 to 900 pieces per version. At Vroomi you will find the Fiat 124 Pininfarina Spider Europa with soft top, the Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider 1600 Coda Tonda, the Opel Kadett B Caravan and the Ford Granada Coupé, each in an authentic period colour. A rich level of detail at a fair price, for collectors who love classic road cars.

In short

A 1:18 scale model reproduces the Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider 1600 Coda Tonda as unveiled at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show, in white with black interior — die-cast metal, launch-spec Series 1 bodywork.

The Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider 1600 was publicly named through a competition before its formal debut at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show. Pininfarina's Tipo 105.36 body married a twin-cam inline-four with twin Weber carburettors to one of the most harmonious open-top silhouettes in post-war Italian design. This die-cast metal model at 1:18 covers every proportion of the original bodyshell.

The Coda Tonda: Pininfarina's Round-Tail Masterpiece

Series 1 production ran from 1966 to 1969, during which the Spider carried the 'Coda Tonda' — round tail — rear treatment that gives the car its nickname. From 1970 onward Alfa Romeo moved to the truncated 'Coda Tronca' tail, making the Series 1 the shortest-lived and visually most distinctive generation. The Tipo 105.36 platform shared its twin-cam engine family with the Giulia saloon range, but the Spider's open roadster brief placed it squarely in the sporting road car market of the era.

From Geneva to Hollywood: the 1966 Duetto's Cultural Reach

Within a year of its Geneva debut, the white Duetto appeared in Mike Nichols' 1967 film The Graduate, driven by Dustin Hoffman, cementing an association between the car and a particular strain of 1960s American-Italian aspiration. White — listed among the Duetto's original factory colour options at launch — is therefore not simply a period-correct choice for this model; it is the colour most directly linked to the car's cultural biography. The black interior complements the open-cockpit architecture that Pininfarina intended to be read as a single flowing form from any angle.

The 1:18 Scale Model

Die-cast metal construction at 1:18 allows the compound curves of the Pininfarina body — particularly the boat-tail rear and the twin-cowl dashboard — to be reproduced with the fidelity that the original design demands. For Alfa Romeo collectors, the 1966 launch-year specification is the reference point.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Coda Tonda, and why does it matter?

'Coda Tonda' means round tail in Italian and refers to the distinctive rounded rear end of the Series 1 Alfa Romeo Spider. This body style was produced only from 1966 to 1969, making it the shortest-lived and most original-design generation of the Spider line.

Why is the white colour significant for this model?

White was among the factory colour options offered at the Duetto's 1966 launch. It is also the colour of the car driven by Dustin Hoffman in the 1967 film The Graduate, directed by Mike Nichols — the most widely recognised screen appearance of the Series 1 Spider.

Who makes this model and what material is it?

The construction material is die-cast metal.
