Round 3 of the 2024 FIA Formula 1 World Championship at Albert Park produced one of the season's defining moments. Carlos Sainz drove the No. 55 Ferrari SF-24 to victory, with team-mate Charles Leclerc crossing the line second to give Scuderia Ferrari a 1-2 finish — their first since the 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix. BBR Models has documented that result in die-cast at 1:18, complete with the pre-HP livery the car carried that weekend in Melbourne.
The Ferrari SF-24: a revised aerodynamic concept
The SF-24 represented a significant aerodynamic step forward for Scuderia Ferrari, featuring a revised sidepod concept and an updated aerodynamic package relative to its predecessor, the SF-23. Power came from a 1.6-litre turbo-hybrid V6 power unit. At the time of the Australian GP, the team competed under the Scuderia Ferrari name; the HP Inc. title sponsorship was introduced from the Miami GP onward, meaning the Melbourne car ran without HP branding.
Melbourne, 24 March 2024: the comeback race
Sainz had undergone emergency appendix surgery just two weeks before Melbourne, missing the Saudi Arabian GP entirely. He returned to qualify on the front row — P2 behind pole-sitter Max Verstappen — and converted that into a race win after Verstappen retired early. Leclerc followed him home in second place and also set the fastest lap, a dominant result that remained one of the highlights of Ferrari's 2024 campaign. It was Sainz's third career Formula 1 victory, following the 2023 British GP and the 2023 Singapore GP.
BBR Models: die-cast construction at 1:18
BBR Models — Bulldog By Racing — is an Italian specialist manufacturer with a long-standing reputation for high-detail Formula 1 replicas at 1:18 and 1:43. This version is the die-cast variant of the SF-24 model, distinct from BBR's resin offerings for the same subject. The model is supplied with a dedicated showcase, consistent with BBR's standard presentation for 1:18 Formula 1 pieces, protecting the livery and aerodynamic surfaces from dust.
In the display cabinet
A 1:18 Formula 1 model requires a meaningful allocation of shelf space given the extended front wing geometry of a modern single-seater. The included showcase handles both presentation and protection. Natural display partners include BBR's No. 16 Charles Leclerc Ferrari SF-24 from the same Australian GP weekend, or Sainz's earlier race-win models — the SF-23 from the 2023 Singapore and British Grands Prix — to build a chronological record of his Ferrari victories.
