In short

A 1:18 scale model of the Falken No. 33 992-generation Porsche GT3 R driven by Andlauer, Menzel, Müller and Picariello at the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours — a legitimate P2 contender eliminated in under an hour by a back-marker incident.

IXO Models captures one of the most dramatic early retirements of the 2025 ADAC RAVENOL 24 Hours of Nürburgring in this die-cast 1:18 scale model. The Falken Motorsports No. 33 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) started from P4 on the grid on 21 June 2025 and had climbed to second overall when a Cup-class Porsche, turned around by another competitor and blocking Turn 2, ended the car's race after 23 laps. That collision makes this model a vivid piece of Nordschleife history — the livery of a car that should have been fighting for the win.

The 992-Generation 911 GT3 R

Unveiled in summer 2022 and first raced at the 2023 24 Hours of Daytona, the 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 R represents a substantial evolution of its 991.2 predecessor. Displacement grew from 3,997 cc to 4,194 cc; the flat-six is tilted 5.5 degrees forward to accommodate a larger underbody diffuser. The engine delivers up to 416 kW (565 PS) subject to FIA Balance of Performance, channelled through a 6-speed sequential dog-type gearbox with mechanical limited-slip differential to the rear wheels. The official body length is 4,619 mm, width reaches 2,050 mm at the rear axle, and base weight sits around 1,250 kg.

23 Laps and a What-If Result

The 53rd edition of the Nürburgring 24 Hours drew a record 280,000 spectators to the Nordschleife on 21–22 June 2025. Falken Motorsports had arrived in strong form, having won both four-hour qualifying races with the No. 33 and No. 44 entries in the build-up to the main event. The No. 33 crew — Julien Andlauer (former Porsche Junior, DTM 2025), Nico Menzel (Nordschleife specialist), Sven Müller (with Falken since 2018) and Alessio Picariello — had each celebrated at least one overall Nordschleife victory in the 2024 season. Running P2 overall around 22:00 on Saturday, the car was collected by a stationary Cup Porsche at Turn 2 and retired on the spot. The 2025 race was won by the No. 98 ROWE Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO after 141 laps.

IXO Models in Die-Cast at 1:18

IXO Models produces this 1:18 scale model in die-cast metal with plastic parts, reproducing Falken's turquoise-blue livery — officially described by the team as their tried-and-tested colour scheme carried on No. 33 Porsche 911 GT3 Rs at the Nürburgring across multiple seasons. This is IXO's third 1:18 release of the Falken No. 33 at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, following editions based on the 991.2-generation 2020 entry and the 992-generation 2023 entry, making it the most recent chapter in a completable multi-year IXO series. The 992.1 homologation cycle covering 2023–2025 is now at its close, adding a final-season dimension to this particular release.

In the Display Cabinet

At 1:18, the model measures approximately 25.5 cm in length, reflecting the real car's 4,619 mm body. Plan for at least 28–30 cm of shelf depth to accommodate the wide rear bodywork (2,050 mm at the rear axle on the actual car). The turquoise-blue livery reads strongly alongside IXO's other 2025 Nürburgring releases — notably the No. 44 Falken sister car and the No. 911 Manthey EMA Porsche that finished second overall. Collectors building a Falken Nordschleife set across generations will find the earlier IXO 991.2 (2020) and 992 (2023) editions natural companions.

Frequently asked questions

How big is the 1:18 scale model?

The Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) measures 4,619 mm in real-car body length. Divided by 18, the model comes to approximately 25.5 cm long. Allow at least 28–30 cm of display depth: the real car's rear axle width is 2,050 mm, so the model body is notably wide at the back.

Does the model have opening parts?

IXO Models has not published a specification confirming opening parts for this release. The model is die-cast metal with plastic components, and on comparable IXO GT racing subjects detail is concentrated on the exterior surfaces — livery graphics, aero bodywork, wheels and diffuser — rather than on opening mechanisms.

What material is the model made from?

The model is constructed from die-cast metal with plastic parts — the standard construction IXO Models uses across its 1:18 GT racing range. Die-cast metal gives the body solid heft and takes paint and livery graphics well, while plastic is used for fine aerodynamic components such as wings and mirrors.

Why did the No. 33 Falken Porsche retire so early in the 2025 race?

Running in second place overall after just 23 laps, approximately one hour into the race on Saturday evening, the No. 33 was involved in a collision at Turn 2 with a Cup-class Porsche that had been turned around by another competitor and was blocking the racing line. The damage was terminal and the car did not continue. It was the team's only entry to retire; the No. 44 sister car continued to the finish.
