Laystall Racing and raced at Le Mans in June 1962. With 36 cars built between 1962 and 1964, every chassis carries individual race history — and this car's Le Mans entry is among the most documented of the privateer cars that season.

Ferrari 250 GTO: 36 Cars, One Formula

Ferrari built the 250 GTO to comply with FIA GT regulations, producing 36 cars between 1962 and 1964. Power came from the 2953 cc Colombo V12, producing around 300 bhp — a unit carried over from Ferrari's successful GT programme but further developed for circuit use. The aluminium body was designed and built by Scaglietti, shaped with aerodynamic intent rare among GT cars of the era, and the combination of light weight and the V12 fed by six twin-choke Weber 38 DCN carburettors made the GTO the dominant force in the FIA GT category for three consecutive seasons.

Le Mans 1962: U.D.T. Laystall and the Pale Green Ferrari

Ecurie U.D.T. Laystall — backed by United Dominions Trust and run by Ken Gregory (originally Stirling Moss's manager) and Alfred Moss — was one of the more prominent British privateer operations of the early 1960s. The car had originally been ordered for Stirling Moss. At the 1962 24 Hours of Le Mans, held on 23–24 June, the team entered the right-hand drive U.D.T. Laystall 250 GTO as car No. 20, finished in a very light, pastel shade of British Racing Green that set it apart visually from both the darker greens of other British entrants and the Rosso Corsa of the factory Ferraris. Innes Ireland, who had won the 1961 United States Grand Prix for Lotus, shared the car with Masten Gregory, the American privateer racer with extensive Le Mans experience.

The 1:18 Die-Cast Replica

This die-cast metal model at 1:18 scale allows accurate rendering of the GTO's long bonnet, Kamm-influenced tail, and the detailed interior typical of the marque.
